In the beginning

Since I was a child, I have wondered about the way things are such as: how great people treat each other, why people mistreat each other, or how things work between people when things go good & bad. The feelings they have often led them to do things that would in some cases affect them in negative ways. I always wondered why. As I grew, I began to see this as a common denominator for reasons why people feel this way. Is it because he has a fly girl or he’s got a lot of money or he got the job I wanted, so and so forth. These emotions lead people to do all kinds of things, these things also influence people to live a certain way. I live in an area that is often referred to as the crabs bucket, everyone is trampling over others to get ahead. I don’t believe this was always the way, but by the influences of the past that we can’t seem to shake or grow from. As I began to dig deeper, I came up with what seems to be the root of it all. This could only be Envy. Envy is a feeling of discontent or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or luck. People want what others have or don’t think they are worthy of their possessions. We were taught to always be grateful for your blessings and to “count your blessings” . It stuck with me. I realized the undeniable truth which is: we are all blessed with the simple fact that we have a chance, an opportunity to make things better for ourselves. When we pass to the next life all the opportunities are gone. There is no do over for this life. Every day is indeed a blessing. This is why we are often referred to as the present or being present. This is a gift for you to live the life you want and achieve your desires. Anything is possible when you can make it make sense. With this fact, there is no way I can see myself as anything less than blessed, and so should you.  You are blessed to have sight and a sound mind to help realize your true potential. We all have trials and tribulations, it’s how we handle the blessings we have as we move on to the next level. We all seek satisfaction, so why unto others when we can give it to ourselves. Let’s reprogram our mind to look within, to solve the issue of worrying all the time. It’s what is true and what is not, and what is true is that you are blessed and what is not that you are better.  Blessed not Better is the mindset to have. Focusing on ourselves brings us closer together as we can appreciate the blessings of others and others can appreciate yours as well.  I’ll use carpet as an example. I have no clue how to make carpet nor do I have the desire to do so but I do desire to have carpet on my floor. So, I thank God/Divine that there is someone out there that has the desire to make the carpet I desire. We are interdependent in this world and this mindset is a great way to actualize this reality.
